SVT Pro Series amplifiers are the right instrument to bring your dream sound out of your head and into reality. Thanks to their design and capabilities, they are very versatile machines that will satisfy many bass players, whether they play rock or funk or anything else. It's not for nothing that they are such popular models, the SVT-3Pro is used by Robert Trujillo (Metallica) or Les Claypool (Primus), for example.
On the front panel of this machine you will find the standard elements. The first is the input for you instrument, which has a switch for a -15 dB pad to make the instrument optimally understand both passive and active instruments, and a Bright switch to enrich the signal with higher frequencies. You'll also find a standard set of potentiometers, namely Gain, Bass, Mid, Treble and Master, the Bass and Treble potentiometers have a specific frequency to work at, with Mid being set via a 5-position Frequency switch. Working in conjunction with Gain is the Peak LED, which indicates clipping. A special feature of this amp is the switchable 9-band graphic equalizer, with which you can change your sound at 40, 80, 150, 300, 600, 900, 2000, 5000 and 8000 Hz, and then especially the Tube Gain control, which adjusts the excitation of the tubes. Here you really have no problem adjusting the sound to your liking.
On the rear panel there are also "classic" elements, namely the effect loop input and output, symmetrical XLR and unsymmetrical 6.3 Jack Line-Out with pre/post-EQ switches, Ground-Lift and adjustable volume, and Preamp-Out and Poweramp-In jacks. These are used to allow you to get a signal from a preamp without disconnecting the end amp, or conversely to send a signal from another preamp to the end amp and bypass the SVT preamp. Finally, there's a footswitch input that can be used to activate graphic EQ or the Mute function, a Tuner-Out output, and two 6.3 Jack and one Speakon connectors for connecting speakers. The amp is designed to work with a 4 or 8 Ohm load, so it is possible to connect boxes in a 2x 16 Ohm, 2x 8 Ohm, or 1x 4 Ohm configuration. Let's just note that with a 4 Ohm load, this hybrid amp delivers 450W of power, when the impedance is increased to 8 Ohm, the power is reduced to 275W.
The Ampeg SVT-3Pro is an amp that you won't get lost with - it offers exactly what every proper bass player needs. The proof is in the number of famous musicians you'll find using this unit.
