The body of the guitar is made of alder with a gloss polyester lacquer finish. The maple fingerboard is fitted with twenty-one Medium Jumbo frets. The special Soft V neck profile is shaped to J. Vaughan's exact specifications and offers a slightly more rounded shape than the traditional ´50s V.
The guitar's three single-coil Tex-Mex pickups with rewound coils and "extra-hot" high output pickups give the guitar a big dynamic blues sound. Two tone controls, a volume potentiometer, and a five-position pickup switch are used to adjust it (the tone controls do not apply to the center position pickup).
The strings are mounted across the faux bone fretboard in closed tuning machines (Vintage Style) and a traditional single-turn synchronized tremolo. The stylish look of the guitar is accentuated by the company's signature logo on the headstock, chrome hardware and a single-layer pickguard that also protects the lacquer from scratches.
The guitar comes in a deluxe gig bag.
The Fender Artist line offers signature models of electric guitars and basses from famous musicians who have made an indelible mark on the history of rock music. To name a few, Eric Clapton, Ritchie Blackmore, Steve Ray Vaughan, Mark Knopfler, Jeff Beck, Eric Johnson, Jimmie Hendrix, Dave Murray, Roger Waters and Flea from RHCP.
